Home Tour

Here is the tour of our home! Please be aware that we just moved in this past June. On our to-do list: kitchen renovation, bath renovations, and knocking down a wall!

Front Patio & Yard

When we moved in, our house was littered with an amazing amount of hostas. We love the plant but they were taking over our front patio, so we moved them to the side garden.

We decided we didn’t want a basic bench on our front porch and opted for two chairs and a plant stand. Yes, that’s a white ceramic elephant.

Living Room

The living room was the most awkward area to decorate. With such a large wood stove there never seemed to be any space for the TV, couches, as well as a dining area.

We painted the two walls around the wood stove a great brick red to enhance it and painted the rest a nice coffee brown. For the windows we added basic white Ikea curtains and honeycomb blinds that are supposed to keep heating and cooling costs down. We installed a new ceiling fan and moved the TV beside the wood stove to make room for the dining table. We also just updated the couch covers to a softer, pleated white and brought in a new lamp.
Dining Room
We bought our first table (!) and added a picture ledge so it felt more like its own area instead of part of the living room. The pictures on the left wall are ones of Chestertown, MD that Jason took himself. We bought two Ikea Tobias chairs to hug the table for now. We intend on purchasing more, but since we don’t even use the dining table very often and find ourselves more than likely eating at the coffee table, we felt that two was enough.

Main Bathroom

At first, we didn’t know what color to paint the larger bathroom in the house. We just went crazy and reached for orange. What a terrible idea. So we decided to repaint it.

Then we went crazy and painted the vanity, too! What a difference.

Master Bedroom

Because we were on such a tight budget when we bought the house, I used the sheets we had in our old apartment. They became to look very outdated very quickly, and not as grown up as we would have liked.

We recently just rearranged the room, switching the bed from one side to the other. We also added a vanity and streamlined our clothing storage with three ikea dressers.

Master Bathroom

Our master bath is nothing close to what its description demands. It is the smaller bathroom in the house, and very tiny at that. We are still trying to work with the size of the area. It will be the first bathroom to be redone with new tile, a new glazed shower, and new vanity. We actually have the vanity ready, just not ready to get out the grout just yet. It is a 2010 project though!

Office

We are still trying to figure out how to incorporate Jason’s deejaying business as well as my craftiness into one room. But we decided to switch rooms from the original corner office, so the paint color changed the entire atmosphere. The current green room is Bennett’s (Jason’s brother) room for now. We are still trying to figure out a paint color (take a look here at how the colors throughout the house coordinate with each other)
