About
I grew up in the back woods of New Hampshire, spent my high school years in suburban New Jersey, and now reside with my husband on the eastern shore of Maryland. I can admit that I’m definitely no longer a city girl and that living on the eastern shore is more peaceful than I ever imagined it would be.
Jason and I met while attending Washington College in Chestertown, MD and ended up moving in together after only six months of dating. Yes, we were definitely crazy in taking the plunge so quickly but we haven’t regretted it! Jason’s family owns a local True Value hardware store and we both now work as managers in the rental department. Our summers are crazy busy! On top of that, we also started our own deejaying business in the winter of 2008 so our weekends are pretty filled too. I was never really interested in home decor until Jason and I bought our house in June of 2009 on our two-year anniversary. We are very fortunate for our age to already have a mortgage instead of paying rent but our house still needs a lot of work and we have a large to-do list before I’ll think it’s ready for a housewarming. It used to be a rental home before we bought it and all of its blemishes were covered by a coat of white paint which we are slowly uncovering and remedying project by project.
Jason proposed to me in August of 2010 at Rehoboth Beach, DE. I was so excited we ran into the arcade close by and ducked into the photo booth. This is one my favorite moments.
We married on a very rainy March 6th, 2011, two days before his mother passed from Ovarian Cancer. It was one of her last wishes to see us get married. It was a small ceremony where only the closest family members were invited to attend. Because we know his mother would have wanted us to, we are in the middle of planning our renewal of vows and large reception for June 16th, 2012.
This blog is about turning our house into a home for two with a very limited budget. We’ve learned how to take the old and turn it new. But we’re also human and we want to make this adventure personal for our readers. We’ll also blog about personal issues, managing a small business, planning a renewal of our vows and large reception for our family and friends, and much more.
Thanks for visiting and come back soon!
